A combination compass/inclinometer is an installers first tool to survey the installation location, to make sure there are no obstructions that may block the satellite signal. This takes all the guesswork out of picking a dish location, and can save tremendous time and effort of having to remount a dish that was mounted in a bad location.

By looking through the viewfinder you can see the azimuth, and by looking through the inlclinometer viewfinder, you can see the elevation and if there is any obstrucions, such as treelines.

Another great use for these is if you have to mount a pole that is not level. By placing the incinometer on the side of the pole and noting the poles declination, you can make proper adjustments in the dish elevation settings. This takes out the guesswork and saves time.

It is a great tool, but the clear capsule can crack. It needs a stronger capsule.
